Nuria Fuentes
Nuria Fuentes-Peláez PhD in Education was awarded special merit for her thesis “Social and family integration processes in intercountry adoption” by the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona. Currently she is teaching and researching in the department of Research Methods and Diagnosis in Education at the University of Barcelona. The teaching is mainly in the degree of Social Education and in the Master on social and educative interventions where she also coordinates the master’s thesis. The research is developed as member of the University of Barcelona and the GRISIJ group, where she co-directs the child protection research line of the GRISIJ group (Socio Research Group Interventions in Children and Youth). She is a member of various scientific associations (AIFREF, AIDIPE), she is on the board of directors of APFEL, and participates in other international networks. Her research is related to the protection of children and the family, especially with regard to foster care and adoption. Publications include contributions in various educational and support programs (addressed to foster care and adoptive families, as well as families in vulnerable situations, biological families), book chapters and scientific articles.

Nina Biehal
Professor Nina Biehal teaches at the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at the University of York and was formerly a social worker. She has conducted many studies of children and young people in care or at risk of entry to care. These include studies of children who receive child protection services at home or who are in foster care, residential care, adopted from care or running away from care. She is particularly interested in outcomes for children in care. She is currently working on three studies: a comparative study of child protection policy, systems and practice in three European countries, a study of children adopted or in long-term foster care in Scotland and a study which is comparing outcomes for abused and neglected children supported at home to those for similar children who enter care.
